Someone once told me I remind them of Hip-Hop. Our relationship reminded them of Hip-Hop.

With that being said, a man who doesn't understand & love Hip-Hop probably won't be able to love & understand me.

Hip-Hop will forever be a part of me. Love is love. My first & only. On some Brown Sugar shxt.

The union of Hip Hop to the mainstream... was a hard thing to imagine. Hip Hop was always this personal regional thing that belonged to just me. Starting with "Fab 5 Freddie" and Yo! MTV Raps! Anyone with a television set and cable box could get a piece of hip hop. I knew I was gonna have to share... and that was hard to get used to.

Just when you think you know everything there is to know about Hip Hop, it finds a way to surprise you... and remind you why you fell in love in the first place.

So what is the difference between "Rap" and Hip Hop? Its simple... Its like the difference between saying you love somebody... and being in love with somebody. "Rap" is just a word!

I always thought... One day I would outgrow my relationship with Hip Hop. I never thought it was a "fad" like many, but I never thought it could grow and mature. I thought it would be an adolescent memory I'd look back on... like a crush on the captain of the football team. But I realize we have more than that... much more. We have a history... a friendship... We listen to each other... We laugh together... We finish each others lyrics. I dont have to pretend with Hip Hop, and Hip Hop doesnt have to pretend with me. My feelings have never been more clear, and I know they will never go away."

It’s very rare that I come across hip-hop artist that I am genuinely wow’d by. Lately it seems hip-hop is slowly but surely coming back and artist are finally grasping the true essence of why many of us fell in love with it in the first place.

First it was Drake, then J.Cole and now we have a newcomer to add to my list. Mr. Freshman aka Ashton Travis. A fellow Howardite who is surely on his way. I’m always one for supporting good music, great talent and HU artists.

This multi-talented Houston,Texas native not only raps. You can hear him belt out a melodic song or recite a poetic story all on one track. I have definitely been expose to Wale, going to school in D.C. Yet, I must admit he never really sparked my interest. Yea Chillin and Pretty Girls were dope songs but I never was a Wale fan. Yet, I decided to give his album a chance. I must admit now, I LOVE WALE!

Attention Deficit is a dope ass album. Beautiful Bliss, Shades and 90210 are probably my top favorites but the albums is fiyah and he's a great lyricist. This is definitely an album you can relate to; that's why I think I love it so much.

So everyone please if you haven't already; please, please, please cop Attention Deficit, it's worth the money; I promise you.

As a child I always thought Monica was a better singer than Brandy.

So as I go through youtube searching for Tyra B's song Still In Love I came across this.

Now the first thing that comes into your mind when you watch this is, this girl can sing! Right?
Wrong!
Well according to American Idol Zewdy can't. I mean what other reason would they have to not put her through the first round... 5 times! Yes, I said 5 times. This talented girl has tried out for American Idol 5 times and never got passed the first round; meaning she never even had the chance to see Paula, Randy, or Simon. What kind of ish* is that?

Watch this video when she completely MURDERS Nobody's Suppose To Be Here by Deborah Cox.
If you have any doubts about this girls vocal ability, this should clear it up for you.

So, since American Idol wouldn't give her time to shine I figured I would! Zewdy is from New Jersey and of Habesha (Ethiopian) descent. She has tried out for numerous contest and shows but never seemed to place. I admire her because she has so much ambition and refuses to let anything stop her from her dream. She is on an independent label called In-Treeg and has an album coming out soon. Hopefully she'll let me interview her for Power To The Pumps in the near future. I wish her and her beautiful voice the best of luck.

Oh, and if I ever get in contact with any of the producers from American Idol; I'll be sure to tell them off!

Have you ever sat there and just wondered how different life would be if that one decision was altered. Today, I wondered exactly how different my life would be, if I went to Spelman. How different would my life be if I would have dropped that one class that ruined my G.P.A? How different would life be if I would have spoke to that one person who could have changed my life forever? How different would my life be if I never found out? How different would my life be if I went to that party? How different would my life be if I just used the word no as much as I want to? How different would my life be if I stayed? How different would my life be if I never introduced them? How different would my life be if I would have just said what was on my mind?

Just some questions I ask myself every once in a while. But, EVERYTHING happens for a reason; even if it seems like its the end of the world, even if it seems like the worst decision ever, even if you feel like you will never recover. EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

The big man above us has a plan for us all... remember that.

"F' Love"

*I was not going to post about this but reading all the negative feedback about Rihanna's interview; not only from the internet but from people who I am friends with, people who I talk to on a regular basis or associate myself with; some of their comments really shocked me and I felt the need to address this issue.

"F' Love" was what Rihanna stated at the end of her interview on 20/20 tonight. I must admit I always thought she provoked him but after watching this interview, I believe her.

I can see it in her eyes.
I can feel her pain.

I have never been in a domestic relationship but I know others who have and it is a SERIOUS situation.

Im am not going to lie; I thought she was lying almost the whole interview. I, like many of you, for whatever reason sided with Chris Brown.
But, when she explained:

1.She was concerned about him more than herself; that is why she reached out first. I understood.
2.She went back to him beacuse she was truly in love. I understood.

3.And when she stated; even though Chris might not have hit her again; she didn't want her fans who were domestically abused to think it was ok to go back. There is no telling what these guys might do to girls in those type of relationships. And for her to be selfish and "choose love over a life, it just isn't right." I understood.

I felt what she was saying, she was sincere to me & even though she did not cry; did you ever stop to think; well maybe she's all cried out. Oh, and if she was "acting" like so many people said or if this was rehearsed; she deserves an Oscar beacuse I truly understood the situation and I feel for her.

Do not blame her.
She is not playing the victim; SHE IS THE VICTIM.
Whether she provoked him or not; it is NOT right.
And yes love is important but,
"F' Love" if it means your life.

That's all; I won't rant on and on but come on people stop being so damn ignorant.

The picture above you is one of my favorite pictures of all time. The fellow that you see in front of you is one of the most honest, loyal, intelligent, and ambitious men that I know.

His name is Lindell, I call him Lindy others call him "Dez"and he is my best friend. He is 18 years old (Dec. 20,1990), from South Jamaica Queens, NY and attends school at Buffalo State College. Coming from a rough environment that I know very well ; I must say he makes me proud; to beat the odds and see the importance of an education. He is my inspiration at times and if anyone can keep me motivated it's him. We have known eachother for 8 years and he has never, ever let me down. I truly love him with all my heart and he is the epitome of a great friend. He probably is the only guy that I love outside of the men in my family.

I know many people (even our parents)
wonder; no, he is not, never was, and never will be my boyfriend. Trust me, our relationship is nothing like that at all. So, whoever said men and women cannot be friends apparently haven't met us. He is my shoulder to lean on and he listens to me when I go on random rants about boys, school, and clothes. He goes shopping with me even though he doesn't want to; without complaining, as long as I feed him. He accepts my mood swings, crazy outburst, and off the wall attitude; while I accept his blunt advice, greedy appetite, selfish tendensies, and when he acts like a big ole baby! Basically, we accept and love eachother flaws and all. Despite the bullshit, despite the distance, despite the months we may go without speaking; he has and always will be there for me, as I for him. To put it simple he is an amazing friend and I'm glad to see his transition from a boy to a man.

...is probably one of thee most stunning woman I have ever seen. She is old enought to be my mother and has the body of someone old enough to be my peer. Mrs. Dash puts ALL these current "video vixens" to shame.

Stacey Dash was born January 20, 1966 in The Bronx, New York and is of West Indian descent. She is a mother of two and has been married twice (but who hasn't now-a-days) and was I the only one who didn't know she was 1st cousins with Damen Dash?

Anyways, I always loved her in Clueless and I'm glad to see she's up and working again after what seemed like a long hiatus. Since then she has done the cover of playboy in 2006, the infamous run in Kanye West's 2004 All Falls Down video and just recently appeared in the CW series The Game along with some other independent films. I simply had to do a post on her because at 43 years old she is the epitome of a "5star Chick" and living proof that black does not crack! I pray that I look half as good as her in 20 years. Mrs. Dash I applaud you.

So as everyone knows Howard University's Homecoming is the GREATEST homecoming ever! If you have not experienced at least one homecoming at Howard then I really feel bad for you. It is an experience like NO other. This year was no different. The events were amazing and definately worth the money and wait. The Comedy show was hilarious it featured comedians like Lil Duval and CoCo Brown. The Fashion Show I must say was not better than last year but still fierce nonetheless. It featured clothing from Parish, Emore'J Couture, KAS Collections Inc and sunglases from Stevie Boy. Yardfest featured artist like Nipsey Hustle, Melanie Fiona, The Clipse, Big Sean, Wale and Fabolous. I was even able to be apart of the the Greek Step Show RYTHMOS opening up with my step team, where we did a M.J Tribute. LOVE night club popped as always during homecoming with the help of Trey Songz hosting the event. All in All homecoming was AMAZING. See you next year!

Last weekend I had the chance to actually watch the new season of The Real Housewives Of Atlanta. The episode I happened to view was when Kandi and Lisa took part in the Pockebook Monologues. The Pocketbook Monologues was created by Sharon K. McGhee. It is similar to the vagina monologues, but from an African American woman's perspective.

Here is an exert of Kandi's performance which truly captured my heart. I even plan on learning this monologue and using it for my audition into the theater program at my school.

So those of you who know me realize that it is very hard to please me music wise, especially in the genre of hip-hop. I'm so done with the whole fake thug, I sell 500 pounds of coke & the "I'll kill your mother if you look at me the wrong way" type of rapper. That's why artist such as Drake, Wale and Kid Cudi are such a sigh of relief for me. But it seems that there's a new young man hitting the hip-hop scene as well. Mr. J Cole a North Carolina native signed to RocNation. He attended St.John's University on an academic scholarship, choosing that school so that he could be in the heart of the music industry: New York City. After graduating from St. Johns everything fell into place for J.Cole and you can even hear him featured on Jay-Z's newest album The Blueprint 3. I've downloaded his latest mixtape "The Warm Up" and I absolutely love it! I haven't felt this way about an artist in a long time and truth be told he's slowly winning over my heart. Not only can he write but he can freestlye as well. I see big things happening for J.Cole and I wish him the greatest success.

Rumors have been circulating for months that Dwayne Carter, Jr. (the Grammy-winning rappers real name) is the father of Lauren London's baby. On Tuesday, Lil Wayne confirmed the baby news while interviewing on Los Angeles Power 106. This is the 'ATL' actress' first child and she (pictured) is already several months along.

Wayne is also expecting a child with his on-again and off-again girlfriend, R&B singer Nivea. The Young Money CEO's growing family includes 9-year-old Reginae, who he fathered with his ex-wife Toya Carter, and Dwayne Michael Carter III, who's mother was not identified.

VIBE has confirmed that Nas and Kelis are headed for a divorce. “I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” a spokesperson for Kelis told VIBE. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.” At around 3:45pm PST, high-powered attorney Laura Wasser (who has also represented Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Stevie Wonder) filed a divorce petition today on behalf of Kelis, citing irreconciable differences. The bombshell comes amid recent reports that the acclaimed rhymer and influential R&B vixen were expecting their first child together—a son. Kelis is currently seven months pregnant.

Ok so this past weekend I went to the Hampton-Howard Alpha Cabaret at Love Night club.

9. I experienced getting tipsy for the first time on new years eve due to my anti-alcohol drugs belief, this will never happen again.

Sometimes, you think you're already over a person, but when you see them smile at you, you'll suddenly realize that you're just pretending to be over them just to ease the pain of knowing that they will never be yours again. For some, they think that letting go is one way of expressing how much you love the person. I believe some are afraid to see the one they love being held by someone else. Most relationships tend to fail not because the absence of love. Love is always present.The fact is that one was being loved too much and the other was being loved too little. As we all know the heart is the center of the body but it beats on the left. Maybe thats the reason why the heart is not right.

ok so0o0o i went to the Santogold Concert last week at Central Park Summer Stage & i must say this has GOT to be one ov thee BEST concerts i have ever been to

She rocks the crowd so well & her music is illy

Her backup was da ish*... i aspire to be like them

they sang danced vogue'd & wu-tang'd

now tell me thats not illy!

Well to say her performance was amazing would be an understatement

ii enjoyed everybit ov it & the atmosphere of the crowd minus the air being full ov weed was super dope

everyone had their own uniqueness(doubt thats a word..oh well) to them & i love that
